Member Training (FSO-MT): Promote the growth of the Flotilla by helping to recruit new members, and develop programs and activities to retain current members. Secretary/Records (FSO-SR): Record and publish minutes of meetings, maintain a current record of flotilla officers, committee assignments, list of division officers, and a current copy of the Flotilla standing rules. |

Operations (FSO-OP): Supervise all flotilla operations programs including search and rescue (SAR), regatta, safety and/or air patrols, and support missions. Ensure that such activities are performed under current Coast Guard policy. |

Vessel Examination (FSO-VE): Oversee and coordinate the Boating Safety Vessel Check (VSC) program to help educate the boating public about required safety equipment. If directed, schedule specific VSC stations and activities. |

Communications (FSO-CM): Encourage use of VHF-FM radio and promote participation in communication drills, including training exercises in search and rescue communications for vessels and aircraft. Work to provide qualified Auxiliarists for standing communications watches. |

Marine Safety & Environmental Protection (FSO-MS): Supervise all maters pertaining to the flotilla's role in the Auxiliary Marine Safety and Environmental Protection activities, and keep the Flotilla Commander and members informed of developments in this area. |

Aids to Navigation (FSO-AN): Responsible for chart updating patrols, verification of private aids to navigation and the prompt reporting of discrepancies in aids to navigation (ATON) using Aids to Navigation Report (ANSC 7054), chart discrepancies and chart updating information using NOAA Form-77 (ANSC 7037), and to inform flotilla members of all developments. |

Public Education (FSO-PE): Responsible for all matters pertaining to the public education program which includes scheduling, organization, and conduct of all public education classes and activities. |

Bob Shulz joined the Auxiliary September 8, 1971 and became a member of flotilla 14-8 November 14, 1986. His wife, Clare, joined the Auxiliary in April 1987 and died in April 1988. Bob used his boat, Free Spirit, as an Auxiliary Facility. He served 14-8 as FSO-PA in 1987, and FSO-VE in 1988. He later transferred his membership to Palatka Flotilla 14-9 and became a permanent member of the Auxiliary in 1991.
